What a lovely pub. Busy on a wet Wednesday in November - deservedly so. Great beer, tasty food, friendly staff, a pleasing hum of chat. Bloomin' wonderful.

Fantastic pub, 7pm on a Friday and it's rammed. Great selection of beers to choose from. As it was fish night I had fish and chips the portions were a very good size and well done. TIP. If you want to eat book in advance, you will find a table with your name on arrival.

The black lion is someone where I’ve always wanted to visit but never had the chance to go for different reasons.. How ever when a few friends suggested going here I jumped at the chance. Wednesday night at 7 and the place was buzzing. Every table was filled, the atmosphere was lively, but not in a loud way. It was great. If you are going to go, then I recommend booking a table, We did and it’s a good job else we wouldn’t have got in. Food was excellent and the staff were next level. Thanks again

We had a lovely meal at The Black Lion, I had ham eggs, chips and peas, and my partner had mushroom stroganoff. For dessert we had apple crumble with custard and malted milk chocolate roulard with cream both were excellent. There were quite a few people in and all the fires were glowing a very nice lunch break.

Meal for two last Saturday. Great pub which we often travel 30 minutes to, lovely menu, fantastic food and service and a proper pub atmosphere - we will return regularly👍 The Black Lion was recommended by friends and they were absolutely right.

Lovely traditional country pud serving a fab roast dinner.Warm and cosy with open fires. Friendly bar and waiting staff. Highly recommend.

Paid my first visit to the pub today at lunchtime, we sat outside with it being a nice day, had a pint of Wainwright beer and ordered the steak and ale pie. A friend had the pulled pork bap. Both were very good! My steak pie had good chunks …
